Checkpoint EMIS Platform
CheckPoint is a proprietary EMIS reporting software platform developed by Vinson Consulting Group.
Columbus, OH — January 11, 2019 — Vinson Consulting Group is thrilled to announce that Piqua City Schools has selected our CheckPoint Platform to recover revenue, increase operational efficiency, and identify all reporting errors.
The Education Management Information System (EMIS) is a statewide data collection system for primary and secondary education in the state of Ohio. It is responsible for processing students’ demographic information, attendance, course information, financial data, and test results. Ohio’s Department of Education leverages this data to calculate the amount of funding each district will receive from the State government. If a district submits an EMIS report that includes errors or omissions, it risks receiving less funding than it is owed.
“I’m a ‘numbers guy,’ but even I was shocked to see the number of errors that CheckPoint identified in our district’s data,” remarks Piqua Treasurer Jeremie Hittle. “I was amazed by how much revenue we were able to recover by partnering with Vinson.”
Hittle continues, “I can confidently say we would have never found these errors without CheckPoint, and I’m willing to bet that other school districts have similar errors that they’ll never find without it, either.”
CheckPoint’s release to the market follows two years of development work led by Mike Nutter, a former Superintendent who encountered plenty of his own challenges over the lack of efficiency and accountability in his districts’ EMIS reporting processes.
According to Mike, “District Treasurers and EMIS staff can leverage the CheckPoint platform to track all student data, check it for mistakes, and, if necessary, find the right person to remedy any inconsistencies. This allows EMIS stakeholders to rest easy knowing that the records they submit to state authorities will be both entirely accurate and fully compliant with Ohio law.”
