Checkpoint EMIS Platform

Greenfield Exempted Village Schools Selects CheckPoint Software to Streamline Processes, Correct Existing Data Errors

CheckPoint is a proprietary EMIS reporting software platform developed by Vinson Consulting Group.

Columbus, OH — January 11, 2019 — Vinson Consulting Group is excited to announce that Greenfield Exempted Village Schools has chosen Vinson’s CheckPoint Platform to identify and correct errors, recover state funding, and make the district’s EMIS reporting processes more efficient.

The Education Management Information System (EMIS) is a statewide data collection system for primary and secondary education in the state of Ohio. It is responsible for processing students’ demographic information, attendance, course information, financial data, and test results. Ohio’s Department of Education (ODE) uses all of this data to calculate the amount of funding that each district receives from the State government. If any district submits an EMIS report with errors or omissions, it risks receiving funding than it deserves — and as a result, Treasurers and Superintendents can face professional consequences.

“Partnering with Vinson has helped our district do away with every compliance issue that we previously faced,” says Greenfield Superintendent Joe Wills. “Implementing the CheckPoint platform saved my staff countless hours and made them far more efficient, while also helping us recover revenue.”

Wills continues, “I can’t recommend CheckPoint enough. Every school district in Ohio should look into using it — it’s a transformative tool.”

The CheckPoint Platform is the end result of more than two years of development work led by former Superintendent Mike Nutter. After realizing the potential of an innovative technological solution to the inefficiency and lack of accountability he witnessed in his own districts’ EMIS reporting processes, Nutter started Vinson to help districts throughout the state of Ohio save valuable time and resources.

According to Nutter, “Districts of all sizes struggle at times to secure the necessary funding in order to ensure that every student succeeds regardless of their circumstances. CheckPoint allows Superintendents, Treasurers, and EMIS staff to rest easier at night knowing that they will receive the maximum amount of funding from ODE and, in turn, better serve their students.”
